HOW +NATURE MOVES PROJECTS FORWARD
Every conservation project enters with different strengths, gaps, and needs. +Nature helps determine where the project stands, what needs to happen next, and what kind of support fits.
Our model is designed to move projects forward only when the structure, accountability, evidence, and pathway are strong enough to support the next stage.
FOUR FUNCTIONS, ONE CONNECTED MODEL.
+Nature works across four connected areas. The mix depends on the project, its maturity, and what is already in place.
PROJECTS CAN ENTER AT DIFFERENT STAGES
Not every relationship becomes a formal +Nature project.
Some opportunities begin as conversations, introductions, early assessment, or strategic exploration. Others are sufficiently defined for +Nature to take on a structured and accountable development role.
EARLY ENGAGEMENT
+Nature may explore a conservation opportunity, build relationships, make introductions, or help identify what would be needed to move forward.
At this stage, +Nature does not assume responsibility for delivering the project.
STRUCTURED DEVELOPMENT
When the project is sufficiently defined and +Nature has a clear, necessary role, the engagement becomes more structured.
That means there is a credible operator, visible governance, a defined project, a realistic funding pathway, and a clear next stage.
Internally, +Nature uses readiness criteria and decision gates to determine when deeper engagement is appropriate.
WE DO NOT ADVANCE PROJECTS ON POTENTIAL ALONE.
Before +Nature takes on a formal development role, we look for the conditions needed to move responsibly.
Defined Project
A clear scope, geography, intervention, and intended outcome.
Defined +Nature Role
A specific function that adds necessary value to the project’s durability.
Credible Operator
Someone capable of actually delivering the work.
Realistic Funding Path
A credible near-term route to support the next stage.
Visible Governance
Clear decision-making, responsibilities, and accountability.
Path Forward
The project is building toward continuation, expansion, or another defined next phase.
The right partners at the right stage
A +Nature project may involve different organizations as it develops.
Project Operators: Lead implementation and day-to-day delivery.
Communities & Stewards: Bring local knowledge, priorities, & stewardship.
Scientists & Technical Experts: Develop or validate the science, monitoring, and specialist methodologies.
Funders & Institutional Partners: Provide grants, public funding, sponsorship, or philanthropic support.
Valuation & Finance Specialists: Enter where ecosystem valuation or another finance pathway is appropriate.
+Nature: Helps structure the project around these functions and keeps the pathway coordinated and accountable.
Blue Green Future is one specialist partner within the +Nature network and may support ecosystem valuation, methodology development, or finance-related work where a project is ready for those functions.
Other projects may require different partners or no valuation pathway at all.
CLEAR ROLES CREATE STRONGER PROJECTS.
+Nature does not need to own or operate a project to add value.
We do not replace the scientists, field operators, community stewards, valuators, legal specialists, or finance professionals responsible for their areas of expertise.
Our role is to help make sure the project around those functions is structured, coordinated, fundable, and accountable.
HAVE A PROJECT THAT MAY FIT THE MODEL?
Whether the opportunity is still taking shape or already moving toward funding, the first step is understanding where it stands and what comes next.
